Crash Course

Students who wish to achieve top grades in public exams need to undergo a significant amount of academic work during their holidays. Students may feel it is unreasonable and unfair to expect excessive  hours of study. With several important exams just round the corner (in January), very few students have the will power and discipline to achieve effective studying during these holidays, and the fear of the upcoming exams can spoil this social and festive time of year.

After the long Summer holidays on returning to school, the previous school year for many students may appear hazy, distant and vague, and exams may be the last thing on their mind. After all, this is what  Summers are for!

In the past, students could return from their summer holidays and gently ease themselves back into the new school year during the first term, but unfortunately things are a little different now.

Some students beginning Year 12 may sit some of their AS exams as early as January. Those that are spared until the summer exams will face a large number of important exams at the end of the first and second year.

AS level results are extremely important as those results are declared on the UCAS form when students apply to universities. The pressure on GCSE, IGCSE, and IB students are equally strong.

ShellinA* Tuition offers a summer school program which takes place towards the end of the summer holidays and is devised to help students get back on track quickly for the new school year.

Depending on the students individual needs, part of the course mainly focuses on the syllabus of the upcoming school year, giving the student a thorough overview of the following years work, enabling them to be "ahead of the game".

This can provide a great boost to their confidence as they enter the new school year with increased motivation.

Gone are the days of cramming for a few weeks before the exams of a 2-year course, being part of this summer school enable students to reap the rewards from the fist term.
